Flowers In A Glass Vase

My latest painting is a still life. I am calling it "Flowers In A Glass Vase" for obvious reasons. It is 16"x20" and can be seen in the next show at the Arts Society of Kingston, titled "Hearts and Flowers", opening February 4 in Kingston, NY.

Fall Sunset

I finished this painting this weekend. I titled it "Fall Sunset". It is small (8"x10") but, I think it is very dramatic. I wanted to capture the intensity of the sun as it passes behind a line of trees. Darkness comes earlier in the fall as the nights get a little chilly.

Suddenly They Appear

This painting is 12"x24" - a different format for me. I wanted the expansiveness of the sky to add to the mysterious mood of early evening. The hay bales are lined up as if laying out a secret message for aliens. When it is haying time in Ulster County you might drive by an field in the morning and when you return to  the same field in the evening it will be filled with hay bales. Two days later, they are gone! This field is in New Paltz. I've painted it before, and I will paint it again.

Late Fall

My most recent work is a painting of a field seen in late fall when the corn is cut and snow on the ground from occasional light dustings stick around. It is a time of dramatic skies.

Newest Painting

This is my newest painting. It took me quite a while before I was able to get the mist the way I wanted it. The location for this painting is Mill Dam Road in Stone Ridge, New York. I have painted the field before in late winter with snow on the ground. This scene is from earlier in the winter when the ground and air are not both cold and moisture becomes mist.

Painting For ASK "Square Deal" Show

I painted this study for the ASK "Square Deal" show in which member artists donate a painting that will sell for $50 as a fund raiser. I call this "Three Barns" and I will make a larger version soon. Paintings measure 8"x8". At $50 these small works of are are a steal.
